Playhouse

and

Maze

The story of the maze and the playhouse begins with a 1942 lithograph by the maestro of colour, Josef Albers, from which the plan of the maze is generated. The chequerboard conjures up ideas of many different games and of fantasy, it also provides a rigid grid for the setting out of all the walls, planes and openings. The rainbow maze is a circuit of walls surrounding the central playhouse.

The scheme is designed as a flexible play area for many ages. It can be experienced as one giant board game, or as a series of independent play spaces to be enjoyed by many.
